Structure and schedule

What is the structure of the study program?

The “postgraduate distance learning program on the Theology of the People of God” takes four semesters (two years) and includes:
  • 24 lessons, each containing 40-60 pages including selected bibliographical references, plus an introductory lesson and a final one on representations in art of theological topics (the didactic material will be available in digital form)
  • 24 written essays as a monthly account on the lessons (the student works on one lesson each month)
  • For participants from Europe: Three attendance seminars in Rome (3 days each) with lectures and guided tours
  • For participants from outside Europe: The second and the third attendance seminar can be transformed into online sessions
  • Tests at the end of each semester; two oral and two written tests throughout the whole course
  • Final thesis
  • Supported by tutors
  • Theological exchange with a tutor via an online forum

Costs

Participation in this 4-semester distance study program costs a total of € 2,800 plus additional travel and subsistence expenses during the attendance seminars in Rome. The fee of € 700 Euro is paid each semester.

Sept 20-22, 2019 Attendance seminar 1 in Rome
Nov 5, 2019
Deadline for submission of essay 1. The fifth day of each month is the deadline for submitting the essay of the preceding month.
March 31, 2020 First oral online test on the lessons 1-6 (= semester 1)
Sept 25-27, 2020   Attendance seminar 2 in Rome with written intermediate exam on lessons 7-12 (= semester 2). Participants outside of Europe may apply for online sessions in lieu of the attendance seminar 2.
March 31, 2021 Second oral online test on the lessons 13-18 (= semester 3)
Oct 3-5, 2021 Attendance seminar 3 in Rome with written intermediate exam on the lessons 19-24 (= semester 4). Participants outside of Europe may apply for online sessions in lieu of the attendance seminar 3.
Dec 31, 2021 Deadline for submission of the final thesis. After approbation, the student will receive the certificate (by Jan 31, 2022).
